Conceptual design of temporal aspects in data warehousing with an extension of ADAPT (Application Design for Analytical Processing Technologies)

One main focus in the development of Data Warehouse and OLAP systems is multidimensional modelling because capability and effective use depend on it. It is important to take reporting requirements in the phase of conceptual design into consideration. Structural changes in consolidation hierarchies are directly affecting the reporting possibilities and hence the treatment of these temporal aspects is an important facet. ADAPT (Application Design for Analytical Processing Technologies) is an accepted method for conceptual design which is supported by adequate tools. An extension of ADAPT, which enables the modelling of temporal aspects, is presented here.
